It is a village and seat of the homonymous community of the municipality of Apokoronas in the regional unit of Chania, Crete. It is located in the northern foothills of the White Mountains, at an altitude of 310 meters, 40 kilometers from Chania, on the road to Sfakia. In the village is the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary with early 14th century hagiographies designed by Ioannis Pagomenos, which are preserved to this day in good condition.
