The village is mentioned by Francesco Barozzi in 1577 as Masa, in the province of Apokoronou. In the Venetian census of 1583 by Kastrophylakas, it is mentioned together with the villages of Philippos and Hambatha, with a total of 128 inhabitants with 3 privileged persons. In the census of Francesco Basilicata in 1630 it is mentioned as Masa Alicambo. In the Egyptian census of 1834 where it is listed as Maza it had a purely Christian population, with 15 Christian families.
