The settlement consists of two parts of the cohesive core and individual buildings and neighborhoods on their outskirts. Most of the buildings preserve to a greater or lesser extent their original part dating back to the late Venetian or early Turkish period. Vafes underwent extensive operations during the second half of the 19th century.
