It is located 38 km southeast of Chania at the foot of the White Mountains at an altitude of 260 meters at the entrance to the straits of Krapi and Katre, which lead to the area of ​​Sfakia. According to the 2001 census, it has a population of 268 inhabitants who are mainly engaged in animal husbandry, olive cultivation, viticulture and carob cultivation. The area is rich in water resources.
